Football Recap: Thorsby Beats Hale County for Their Fifth Straight Win

Thorsby extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 5-0. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 42-37 W against the Hale County Wildcats. The Rebels pushed the score to 42-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Braylon Carroll continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 238 yards and four TDs while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 rushing touchdowns per game. Lucas Jackson was in the mix too, providing Thorsby with two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Thorsby was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hale County only rushed for 139 rushing yards.

As for Hale County, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (34), they still had to take the loss.

Despite the defeat, Hale County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Marcus Bryant, Jr. rushed for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 261 yards and three TDs.

Thorsby and Hale County will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Rebels see the field they'll take on Thomasville at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Hale County, their break will end when they face Southside at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
