Volleyball Preview: Valley Center Jaguars vs. Ramona Bulldogs
On Wednesday Valley Center will have to hit the road after three straight games at home. After both having extra time off, they and the Ramona Bulldogs will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It was a proper cat-fight when Valley Center challenged El Camino on Tuesday. Valley Center came out on top against El Camino by a score of 3-1.
Valley Center was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-15, 26-28, 25-17.
Grace Hawranik had an outrageously good game as she had 18 digs and five aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last 11 games she's played dating back to last season.
Valley Center was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 13 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Ramona got the win against West Hills on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.
Ramona never let West Hills on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-22, 25-21.
Valley Center's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Ramona, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-18 record this season.
