Football Recap: Superior Gets the Win

Superior hadn't done well against Williams recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers snuck past the Vikings with a 40-34 win. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 26-20 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Antonio Lopez went supernova, throwing for 395 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 34 yards and one score. Those 395 passing yards gave him a new career-high. A healthy portion of Lopez's aerial production (164 yards to be exact) went to Ryland Duarte.

Superior didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Williams to a completion percentage of just 48.5%. Given Lopez's standout performance, it's clear the Vikings' secondary just wasn't on the same level.

Williams lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jack Dent, who threw for 258 yards and three TDs. Dent is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: he's passed for at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Mario Pedraza helped Dent out on the ground, rushing for 97 yards on only ten carries, while also picking up 60 receiving yards.

Superior now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Williams, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Superior wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 48-6 win against Baboquivari on the 12th. As for Williams, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-26 loss against Bagdad on the 12th.
