Basketball Game Preview: Custer/Hysham vs. Reed Point/Rapelje Renegades

Custer/Hysham will challenge the Reed Point/Rapelje Renegades at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Custer/Hysham and nine for Reed Point/Rapelje.

Last Saturday, Custer/Hysham was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to Northern Cheyenne Tribal.

Meanwhile, Reed Point/Rapelje lost to Fromberg on the road by a 58-44 margin on Friday. While the Renegades didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 12-8 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Reed Point/Rapelje saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landen Bryant went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 36.4% of Reed Point/Rapelje's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Marshall Ulmer, who earned nine points and five boards.

Custer/Hysham's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Reed Point/Rapelje, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Everything came up roses for Custer/Hysham against Reed Point/Rapelje in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured an 82-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Custer/Hysham since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
