Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Miege Stags vs. Lawrence Lions

The Bishop Miege Stags will take on the Lawrence Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Miege is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Bishop Miege blew past Burroughs, posting a 63-34 victory. The Stags have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 29 points or more this season.

Mary Grant and Kirston Verhulst were among the main playmakers for Bishop Miege as the former went 8 of 19 on her way to 21 points and seven boards and the latter went 8 for 16 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Grant a new career-high in blocks (two). Finley LeMay was another key player, putting up five points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lawrence challenged Mill Valley on Friday. Lawrence skirted past Mill Valley 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since February 23, 2024.

Lawrence has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Bishop Miege, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
