Volleyball Recap: Davidson Day Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Grace Christian two weeks ago, Davidson Day came back down to earth. The Patriots fell 3-1 to the Sun Valley Spartans on Wednesday. That makes it the first time this season the Patriots have let down their home crowd.

While Davidson Day had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18.

Alexia Hatzopoulos paced Davidson Day's offense, picking up 13 kills. Hatzopoulos were helped by Dara Polk and Deanna Fiore, who contributed 17 assists each. Polk also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lilly Marinelli, each putting up two.

Davidson Day's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Sun Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season.

Davidson Day wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Carmel Christian on the 25th. As for Sun Valley, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Cuthbertson on the 25th.
