Baseball Recap: Pottsville Drops Highest Score of Season Against Panther Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pottsville). Everything went their way against the Panther Valley Panthers on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-4 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Max Clews was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dominic Rynard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Pottsville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

The win (which was Pottsville's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-10. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Panther Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pottsville will square off against Blue Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Crimson Tide's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Panther Valley, they will challenge Nativity BVM at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
