Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Eastern Alamance

Eastern Alamance won the last time they faced Person and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rockets a 10-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won six matches in a row.

The result came thanks to Delani Straughan's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Eastern Alamance let Mckenzie Blevins and Kayden Manning run wild. Blevins went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Manning scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Manning has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Byrd, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Eastern Alamance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Eastern Alamance's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Person, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Coincidentally, Eastern Alamance and Person will both be playing Western Alamance the next time they take the field. The Rockets will host the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
