Recap: Lake Mead Academy Eagles vs. Needles Mustangs

The Lake Mead Academy Eagles pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Needles by a score of 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Lake Mead Academy has suffered against Needles since January 7, 2020.

Lake Mead Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caynen Abittan, who went 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Abittan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Cummins jr, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 assists.

Needles got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Talon Paget out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Paget continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Xavier Russell, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Lake Mead Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Needles, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Lake Mead Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against GV Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully GV Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday. As for Needles, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Adelson at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Adelson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
