Baseball Recap: Mattoon Find Success

Mattoon posted their closest win since May 14, 2024 on Saturday. They skirted past the Christ Our Rock Lutheran Silver Stallions 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Greenwave.

Mattoon's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Blaine Howell, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Howell also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Mattoon's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Christ Our Rock Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Mattoon will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Marshall at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Christ Our Rock Lutheran, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Flora at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
