Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Sharyland's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Sharyland rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Lopez Lobos 13-3. The Rattlers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Sergio Ibarra and Luis Balderas did most of the damage at the plate: Ibarra got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Balderas went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Ibarra a new career-high in hits (three). Nic Valdez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sharyland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Sharyland has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lopez, they moved to 20-6-1 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Sharyland will head out to face off against Mission Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rattlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. Lopez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
