Softball Recap: Seymour Wins Going Away Against New Albany

With a playoff win on the line, Seymour rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the New Albany Bulldogs with a sharp 11-2 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-2 back in April.

Taylor Stuckwisch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Zoe Williams was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Phoebe Underwood was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Seymour has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for New Albany, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.

Looking ahead, Seymour will challenge Floyd Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Highlanders will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Owls surely won't give up without a fight. New Albany does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
