Preview: Horizon Honors Eagles vs. Chandler Prep Titans
The Horizon Honors Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chandler Prep Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Horizon Honors sitting on six straight wins and Chandler Prep on three.
Horizon Honors stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past St. Augustine Catholic 72-47. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-20.
It was another big night for Matthew McEnaney, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Max Gerelick was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Chandler Prep made off with a 55-54 victory over Santa Cruz Valley.
Noah Ruiz continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Caleb So, who scored 13 points.
Horizon Honors is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Chandler Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Horizon Honors have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 44.2% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Chandler Prep struggles in that department as they've made 42.8% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
