Baseball Game Preview: Centreville Wildcats vs. North Lincoln Knights

The Centreville Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the North Lincoln Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Centreville 2.2, North Lincoln 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Centreville had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Ridley on Sunday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 11-1 victory. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dylan Hassan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bryce Henneburg was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Graham Rosenberg also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, North Lincoln never let their opponents score on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Foard. The victory was familiar territory for the Knights, who have now won three games in a row.

Centreville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for North Lincoln, their record is now 9-7.
