Softball Recap: Bishop's Triumphs

While Bishop's win against Canyon Crest Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bishop's Knights won by a run and slipped past the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens 5-4. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Ravens on Saturday, too.

Jessica Yao made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Yao was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayla Stafford, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Bailey Brightenburg was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Bishop's victory bumped their record up to 4-0-1. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.

Looking ahead, Bishop's will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Santa Fe Christian at 4:00 p.m. Bishop's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Santa Fe Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Mission Bay at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
