Hughesville had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They blew past the Bucktail Bucks 12-2. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Spartans this season.

Ella Breneisen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ashlynn Barlett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Adelyn Knight was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Hughesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hughesville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Bucktail, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
