Soccer Game Preview: Staunton vs. Alleghany

The Staunton Storm are taking a road trip to face off against the Alleghany Mountaineers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alleghany took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Staunton, who comes in off a win.

Staunton barely beat Rockbridge County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Storm blew past the Wildcats 6-2 on Tuesday. Staunton haven't had any issues with Rockbridge County recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Alleghany's offense. They lost 7-0 to Fort Defiance last Tuesday. Alleghany have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Alleghany's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Staunton, they now have a winning record of 5-4-1.

Everything went Staunton's way against Alleghany when the teams last played back in March, as Staunton made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Storm since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
