Football Recap: Casey Von Schalscha Leads Burney's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

Burney gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against the Chester Volcanoes by a score of 18-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Liam Von Schalscha continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 127 yards. Killian Biles also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Burney didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Casey Von Schalscha led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Burney got some further help from Greeley Wolfin: he picked up a sack, forced two fumbles, and made 13 total tackles (6.0 for loss).

Burney pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.0 points on average this season. As for Chester, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Burney will take on rival Plumas Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season. Meanwhile, Chester is set to square off against their familiar foe Hayfork at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Volcanoes 9.5, the Timberjacks 8.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
