George Washington extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-0. They blew past the South Charleston Black Eagles, posting a 55-7 victory. That looming 55-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Patriots yet this season.

Leading George Washington to victory were Jaden Black and Cy Persinger. Black rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, while Persinger threw for 146 yards and three TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes. Kai Martin was Persinger's top target, picking up 41 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: George Washington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

George Washington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Martin and Jericho Henry. George Washington received some extra help from Clyde May, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

As for South Charleston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while George Washington is ranked sixth).

When it comes to explaining why South Charleston lost, don't look at Malcolm Brown. Despite the final result, he picked up 81 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 36 yards. Brown's longest reception was for an incredible 81 yards.

George Washington has already played their next contest, a 17-14 win against Barnesville on the 26th. As for South Charleston, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-24 loss against Capital on the 26th.
