Basketball Recap: Chesterfield Takes a Loss

After flying high against North Central last Monday, Chesterfield came back down to earth. The Chesterfield Golden Rams fell 49-41 to the Cheraw Braves on Friday. The Golden Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Braves earlier this season, when they won 46-39.

When it comes to explaining why Chesterfield lost, don't look at Reagan Rivers. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Rivers is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrahjah Robinson, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Chesterfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Cheraw had a senior duo take command as Jaleah Faulkner earned 15 points and Cherita Burns scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Sa'Nya Murray, who had eight points.

Chesterfield now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Cheraw, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9.

Chesterfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cheraw, they will take on Chesnee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
