Basketball Recap: Highlands Ranch Takes a Loss

Highlands Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 70-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Douglas County Huskies. The Falcons were probably out for revenge after losing 69-64 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Douglas County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vaughn Baldwin, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Those six assists gave Baldwin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xavier Wynne, who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and seven boards.

Highlands Ranch now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Douglas County, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10.

When Highlands Ranch and Douglas County next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Highlands Ranch will try to stop Mountain Vista's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Douglas County will face off against Chaparral and their five-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
