The Manteca Buffaloes will take on the East Union Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manteca will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Manteca needed a bit of extra time to put away Patterson. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tigers 10-8. That's two games straight that the Buffaloes have won by exactly two runs.
Isabel Tonna tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Manteca got a massive performance out of Lauren Moncada, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, Moncada posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Baptist, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Manteca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patterson only managed eight hits.
Meanwhile, East Union fell victim to Mountain House and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 8-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lancers have suffered since April 25, 2024.
Manteca's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for East Union, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Manteca has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Manteca's way against East Union in their previous meeting back in March, as Manteca made off with a 17-5 victory. Do the Buffaloes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
