Volleyball Game Preview: West Panthers vs. Alta Hawks

The West Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Alta Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: West has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Alta will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Thursday, West came up short against Brighton and fell 3-1.

While West ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-27, 25-20.

Despite the loss, West had strong showings from Ethan Bigelow, who had 19 digs, and Moli Togia, who had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Togia has posted over his last six games.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Alta took on Skyline on Thursday. Alta walked away with a 3-1 win over Skyline.

Alta got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 21-25, 35-33, 25-22.

West's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Alta, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

West came up short against Alta in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 3-1. Can West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
