Softball Recap: Clarence's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Clarence dropped their record down to 1-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 8-5 to the Lancaster Legends. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Legends apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Lancaster, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2. The game was the first time they have beaten Clarence on their field since May 11, 2022.

For Lancaster's part, Alyssa Brunner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Brennah DeWald was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Addison Stachewicz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clarence will face off against Williamsville East at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Flames will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lancaster, they will venture away from home to take on Williamsville South at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Billies' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Legends' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
