Football Recap: Yamhill-Carlton Tigers vs. Banks Braves
Yamhill-Carlton lost against Banks back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers were outmatched by the Braves and fell 42-6. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Braves are ranked 18th).
A big part of Banks' victory came down to the chemistry between Nate Lyda and his top target Jarrett Martin. Lyda threw for 187 yards and one TD on perfect 10-for-10 passing while Martin gained 102 total yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Lyda a new career-high in passer rating (170.8). Henry White was in the mix as well, providing Banks with two touchdowns.
This is the second loss in a row for Yamhill-Carlton and nudges their season record down to 1-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-2 Valley Catholic (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 83.3% over those games). As for Banks, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
