Oswego is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Plainfield North just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Oswego came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Plainfield North are ranked 141st).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Romeoville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Spartans who were credited with the win on Thursday. Romeoville got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Plainfield Central's one. The victory was some much needed relief for Romeoville as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Oswego's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Romeoville, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
