Baseball Recap: FAMU DRS Gets the Win

FAMU DRS and Raines pushed the score to 14-8 the last time they played Raines, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Baby Rattlers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Vikings 3-1. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 14-8 victory on Saturday.

Ayden Cromer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because FAMU DRS is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Cromer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Chayce Cromer was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for FAMU DRS and bumps their season record up to 7-6. As for Raines, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

FAMU DRS didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-3 defeat against Munroe on the 8th. As for Raines, they have also already played their next match, a 1-0 victory against Gadsden County on the 5th.
