Baseball Recap: Pearl City Gets the Win

Pearl City won the last time they faced Maui and things went their way on Friday too. The Pearl City Chargers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Maui Sabers, sneaking past 4-2.

Noah Bernal made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those no hits gave him a new career-low. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

In other pitching news, Pono Kala looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Bernal wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jayson Au Hoy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Au Hoy a new career-high in hits (two).

Pearl City now has a winning record of 1-0-1.

Looking ahead, Pearl City will head out on the road to take on Mililani at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maui, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Kapa'a at 9:00 a.m.
