Basketball Game Preview: Fairbury Jeffs vs. Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines

Fairbury and Wilber-Clatonia are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Fairbury Jeffs will be playing at home against the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Fairbury was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-48 to Tri County. The loss continues a trend for the Jeffs in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now lost eight in a row.

Despite the defeat, Fairbury had strong showings from James Martin, who posted 11 points, and CJ Goeking, who put up 12 points. Those 12 points gave Goeking a new career-high. Brodie Prellwitz was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Wilber-Clatonia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-58 heartbreaker at the hands of Thayer Central.

Wilber-Clatonia's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Fairbury, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
