Basketball Recap: La Salette Academy Takes a Loss

La Salette Academy lost against Hoopeston back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lions took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cornjerkers.

Despite the loss, La Salette Academy still got an impressive performance from Andrew Sick, who went 7-for-17 en route to 19 points and six boards. Sick is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was JP Agbapuruonwu, who posted eight points.

Hoopeston got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole Miller out in front who shot 82% from the field to rack up 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Miller continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Nick Cardenas was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

La Salette Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Hoopeston, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

La Salette Academy has already played their next game, a 55-50 win against Arthur-Okaw Christian on the 9th. As for Hoopeston, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-45 loss against Clifton Central on the 6th.
