Softball Recap: Tempe's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Tempe had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks as they made off with a 15-5 win. 15 seems to be a good number for the Buffaloes as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Armanda White made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. White was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karina Sotelo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Celeste Alvarez, who fired off three triples, one run, and one RBI while going 3-for-4.

Tempe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 12-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Tempe's record is now 15-6. As for Desert Sunrise, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-12.

Looking ahead, Tempe will take on Yuma at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Buffaloes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Criminals have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Desert Sunrise, they will square off against Coronado at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Hawks are facing the Dons at the right time seeing as the Dons are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
