Recap: Grand Saline Indians vs. Chisum Mustangs
It was a good run, but the Grand Saline Indians unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chisum. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Grand Saline in their matchups with Chisum: they've now lost seven in a row.
Chisum was led to victory by Emma Garner and Brooklyn Atnip. Garner dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Atnip scored 24 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. The game was Garner's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Bradberry, who scored seven points.
Grand Saline's loss dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Chisum, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Grand Saline will head out on the road to face off against Hughes Springs at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hughes Springs is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Chisum will be home for the holidays to greet Rains at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rains presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chisum in Texas (Rains is ranked 41st, while Chisum is ranked 745th).
