Softball Recap: American Eagles vs. Deer Valley Wolverines
American came into Thursday's game having lost 11 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Deer Valley Wolverines with a sharp 13-5 victory on Thursday. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Amber Hillman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hillman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Mya Anderson was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 4-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Ruiz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
American was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
American's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Deer Valley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Looking ahead, American will face off against San Leandro at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. San Leandro will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something American surely won't give up without a fight. Deer Valley will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Miramonte at 4:30 p.m. on April 14th.
