Hayden faced Washburn Rural in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Blues by a score of 2-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in September.

Hayden not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Washburn Rural between 14 and 16 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-14.

Hailey Schmidtlein paced Hayden's offense, picking up eight kills. Schmidtlein got some help from Blakely Walter and her 21 assists.

Hayden's victory ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 17-5. As for Washburn Rural, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six matches and leaves them with a 11-5 record.

Hayden wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Manhattan on the 4th. As for Washburn Rural, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 0-0 draw against Topeka on the 4th.
