Baseball Recap: Montclair Kimberley Academy Comes Up Short

Montclair Kimberley Academy extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 5-17. They lost 9-2 to the Pennington Red Hawks. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Pennington, their record now sits at 19-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.

For Pennington's part, Braeden Leeds looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Leeds has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Richer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Bam Pelzer also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Coming up, Montclair Kimberley Academy will take on River Dell at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Pennington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
