Basketball Recap: Burns Comes Up Short at Home Against South

Burns unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the South Bison on Thursday, falling 73-48. The Broncs just can't catch a break and have now endured 24 losses in a row dating back to last season.

Burns lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Christian Genho, who posted eight points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Genho a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Terry, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

South was led to victory by Demitri Cotton and Aiden Mitchell. Cotton went 6 of 10 on his way to 21 points and three steals, while Mitchell had 13 points along with six steals and five boards. Preston Decker was another key player, putting up seven points along with five boards and three steals.

Burns didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-57 defeat against Tongue River on the 13th. As for South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-55 loss against Big Horn on the 13th.
