Basketball Game Preview: Ponitz Career Tech Golden Panthers vs. Taft Senators

The Ponitz Career Tech Golden Panthers will square off against the Taft Senators at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponitz Career Tech comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Saturday, Ponitz Career Tech had to suffer through a 70-41 loss at the hands of Dunbar. While losing is never fun, the Golden Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 783rd, while the Wolverines are ranked 252nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taft). They claimed a resounding 92-53 win over Linden-McKinley. The Senators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Taft pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.0 points per game. As for Ponitz Career Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 0-17.

Ponitz Career Tech suffered a grim 88-64 defeat to Taft in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Ponitz Career Tech, Jordyn Buchanan (who went 11 of 19 en route to 31 points along with five assists and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time.
