Basketball Game Preview: Buena Park Coyotes vs. Westminster Lions

The Buena Park Coyotes will take on the Westminster Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Buena Park and ten for Westminster.

Buena Park is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Valencia on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Buena Park lost 67-46 to Valencia. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1147th, while the Tigers are ranked 411th).

Despite the loss, Buena Park got top-tier performance from Emmanuel Charagu, who posted 20 points and three steals. The game was Charagu's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyaire Eastland, who had ten points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Westminster came up short against Santa Ana on Wednesday and fell 59-50.

Westminster's defeat dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Buena Park, their loss dropped their record down to 5-20.

Buena Park took their win against Westminster in their previous meeting on January 10th by a conclusive 68-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buena Park since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
