Baseball Game Preview: North Ridgeville Rangers vs. Avon Eagles

The North Ridgeville Rangers will head out on the road to challenge the Avon Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. North Ridgeville will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

North Ridgeville proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 13) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over North Olmsted. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rangers have posted against the Eagles since April 10, 2019.

Daniel Lowe made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Lowe was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Lowe wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Enmanuel Ramos, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Avon has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.5 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They lost 12-4 to Rocky River. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 25, 2024.

Sam Spike made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Robby Sykora, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Avon and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for North Ridgeville, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

North Ridgeville couldn't quite finish off Avon in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Rangers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
