Basketball Recap: Albemarle Takes a Loss

Albemarle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls, falling 59-36. The Bulldogs were probably out for revenge after losing 53-42 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

South Stanly got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaxon Valler out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Valler a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cohen Whitley, who posted 14 points.

Albemarle's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for South Stanly, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albemarle will welcome Union Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Union Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for South Stanly, they will host Mount Pleasant at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Stanly is on a three-game streak of home wins, Mount Pleasant a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
