Softball Game Preview: Republic County Buffaloes vs. Beloit Trojans

Republic County hasn't had much luck against Beloit recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Buffaloes will host the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Republic County comes in on six and Beloit on eight.

Republic County came out on top against Plainville on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run first inning. The Buffaloes put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 14-1 victory.

Drew Skocny made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Skocny was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Grae Siemsen was excellent, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Bri Horner was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Republic County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plainville only managed two hits.

Meanwhile, Beloit earned a 9-5 win over Sylvan-Lucas back in April.

Beloit's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average this season. As for Republic County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
