Baseball Recap: South Fulton Red Devils vs. Hickman County Falcons
South Fulton extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hickman County Falcons. The Red Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Hickman County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.
For Hickman County's part, Anderson Burpo was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The Falcons are undefeated when Burpo posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Drew Cunningham also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Fulton will venture away from home to challenge Carlisle County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Comets have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Hickman County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Fulton County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
