Soccer Game Preview: Vinton-Shellsburg vs. Solon

The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Solon Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Vinton-Shellsburg is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Vinton-Shellsburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Grinnell on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Vinton-Shellsburg, who have now won three contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Solon was forced to settle for a draw. They and Independence finished up their matchup with a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

Vinton-Shellsburg's win bumped their record up to 5-1-1. With that draw, Solon's record moves to 3-1-1.

Vinton-Shellsburg beat Solon 5-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
