Abbott had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Rio Vista Eagles on Tuesday. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 3-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Abbott got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 31-29, 20-25, 25-13, 25-23.

Coincidentally, Abbott and Rio Vista will both be playing Axtell the next time they take the court. The Eagles will host the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Panthers will play them later in the day, at 5:45 p.m.
