Baseball Recap: Camden's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

Camden suffered their closest loss since April 23, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the New Hartford Spartans by a score of 6-4. The loss was the Blue Devils' first of the season.

Caden Grygiel was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. Grygiel was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Adam Gonzalez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Javey Relyea also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Camden fell to 3-1. As for New Hartford, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Camden will take on Andrews in a tournament on Tuesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for New Hartford, they will challenge Whitesboro at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
