Baseball Recap: Robert C. Byrd Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Robert C. Byrd couldn't beat Bridgeport on Thursday even though they stacked nine runs on them in the fifth inning. The Eagles fell just short of the Indians by a score of 13-12. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 9-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

JD Ford and Cooper Floyd did some serious damage despite the final result: Ford went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Floyd got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. James Barnett also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Robert C. Byrd's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. As for Bridgeport, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Robert C. Byrd will take on Lewis County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bridgeport, they will welcome Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
