Basketball Recap: Pomona Comes Up Short

Pomona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Littleton Lions 65-17. The Panthers lost against the Lions in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 57-37 score last time.

Littleton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Vicky Whitney out in front who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Whitney is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Emma Bird was another key player, going 6 of 15 to rack up 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Pomona's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Littleton, their record is now 7-12.

Pomona and Littleton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Pomona (ranked 290th) will meet Evergreen (ranked 139th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Littleton will take on Standley Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 145 places (209 vs. 64).
