Volleyball Recap: Kenna Hagan and Breckyn Layne Veskerna Secure Win for Amherst

Amherst extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 15-4. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Southern Valley Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Broncos also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Leading Amherst to victory were Breckyn Layne Veskerna and Kenna Hagan. Layne Veskerna had 11 digs and two aces, while Hagan had 16 assists. That's the most aces Layne Veskerna has posted since back in August. Jessa Anderson also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Amherst was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

As for Southern Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since September 4th.

Despite the loss, Southern Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cali Santifer had 12 digs.

Amherst didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Loomis on the 2nd. As for Southern Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alma at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
