Basketball Game Preview: Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets vs. Severn School Admirals

Chapelgate Christian Academy and Severn School are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets will take on the Severn School Admirals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Chapelgate Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season.

On Wednesday, Chapelgate Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-47 to Archbishop Curley. The Yellowjackets haven't had much luck with the Friars recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Chapelgate Christian Academy got top-tier performance from Landen Custis, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 19 points along with seven boards and four steals. That's the most steals Custis has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Justin Davis, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Chapelgate Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. This was only their 12th loss (out of 19 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Severn School had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Saints by a score of 55-47. That's two games straight that the Admirals have won by exactly eight points.

Severn School is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

Chapelgate Christian Academy took a serious blow against Severn School in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 80-43. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Chapelgate Christian Academy was down 42-18.
