Basketball Recap: Independence 76ers vs. Mifflin Punchers
Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 27th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 57-43 bruising from the Mifflin Punchers. The 76ers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Punchers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Tyrone (BJ) Woody continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mifflin, going 10 of 18 en route to 23 points and seven rebounds. Woody continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chernor Jalloh, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.
Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mifflin, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Independence will take on Briggs in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mifflin, they will host Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Mifflin surely won't give up without a fight.
